Our sincere thanks go to Fabrizio Bianchi Schierholz and his team for organising such a wonderful meeting in Bologna, Italy. Not only did we have many good conversations, laughs and camaraderie, but we also enjoyed excellent food.

THURSDAY we had a traditional dinner at La Capriata restaurant.

FRIDAY we had a guided tour of the Ducati Motorcycle Factory and Museum, showing the whole construction process and the motorcycles from the first “Cucciolo” to the last MotoGP and Superbike World Champions, which was extremely interesting. Thanks to Loana Fior, head of legal, for inviting us including lunch in the Ducati canteen, which was much appreciated.

In the afternoon we visited the centre of Bologna, paying particular attention to the University (the oldest in Europe) and its historic building (Archiginnasio). Dinner at the Corte Galluzzi restaurant was very tasty, especially the Lambrusco.

SATURDAY Some of the members went on a guided tour of the National Gallery in Bologna. Others, however, skipped their history lessons with a guilty conscience and went in search of the best ice cream in town. They found it at the “Cremeria di Santo Stefano”. The bad conscience vanished after the first bite, truly a cultural experience with historical significance for the palates of the renegade culture vultures (sorry, Fabrizio) ☺.

The farewell dinner at “Circolo Bononia” spoiled us with delicious food, including traditional Bologna-style lasagne and local wine. The Palazzo dei Conti Bolognetti, a family in Bologna since 1200, was built in 1551. The “Circolo Bononia” is an old club like those in England and is open to “signori” as well as “signore”. The room where we dined was very nice and the service of the well-dressed waiters was as good as the food. “Meravigliosa! The night cap at the “Fabrik” was the perfect end to this wonderful meeting.
